2014 Crab Share Payments.
This year Inverness South was given a small quota of crab from Zone F. There were many challenges and difficulties that the Gulf Nova Scotia Crab Company Ltd. had to overcome to try to land the entire allocation, and unfortunately, they were unable to land the entire quota.
However, we were sent our share of what was landed. Unfortunately, we only received this money after I had already mailed out the crab cheques for 2014. Therefore, I am sending everyone a second cheque.
The breakdown of the Zone F crab share is as follows:
Total allocation for Zone F for 2014: 98,105 lbs
Amount actually landed for 2014: 45,583 lbs
Total value of the crab landed: $133,640.40
Inverness South Percentage (19.908% of total) $ 26,605.13
Less: 3% administration fee $- 798.15
Less: Charters @ 1.10 per pound $- 9,982.13
Less: Biorex (observers coverage) $- 310.92
Less: Monitors @ .0165 per pound + tax $- 172.19
Total share for Inverness South for 2014: $ 15,341.74
Less – 2 crab shares for members left off the
List by error of the Registry** $ 3,491.26
Total ZoneF share Payable to Members for 2014: $ 11,850.48
Divided by eligible members: ÷87
Total Payable to each Member for 2014: $ 136.21
2nd Crab Share Cheques for $136.21 were mailed December 9, 2014.
** - There were 2 members of Inverness South whose names were left off the list DFO used to allocate crab share to Inverness South. This omission was due to data entry errors at the Registry when fees were paid. In fairness, Inverness South paid these fishers their crab share and took the amount (2 shares of $1,745.63 = $3,491.26) out of this extra crab money from ZoneF.
